As you may or may not be aware, lgshort.com runs on a custom CMS that I developed.
For sometime now I have been tweaking and changing small things here and there, but now I have taken the time to completely rebuild the core engine. I still have a couple of things to finish up, like an easier method for changing templates and the ability to create sub-folders.
Anyway, if you have noticed some weirdness the last week or so, it should be done for now.
I was getting tired of the old style for a while. The concept of letting people choose how they view your site is less practical than I had hoped.
So, without further adue, the new design.
I have decided to add a TI83+ games section to my website. In high school I was involved in the production of a number of games for the TI83+ and have decided that most of them are actually pretty good.
I need to go ahead and say that I am NOT the author of all games listed. I will give credit to creators of all programs.
I have consided starting to program games for the TI83+ again, however I don't have any good ideas at the moment. I will release an existing title every week until they are all up.
Joseph Larson, creator and maintainer of cymonsgames.com, has been though a lot with his website recently. He was slashdotted, boingoed, and probably some equally unplesant sounding things.
Bottom line is that it tore up his site and now he is out on his own!
QUICK NOTE: I was just informed durring the process of writing this entry that I have been given a VIP account at cymongames as a 'thank you' for helping get things up and running!! Major hurray!
I have been working all afternoon and I am happy to say that Cymonsgames is back online. It's my understanding that Joseph plans to take the site offline briefly to update a few more things.
A toast to ACSIIpOrtal!
Good luck with the impending slashdotting Joe!
I can't believe I have neglected to mention this sooner but I have bought my first house!! I signed the papers on July 2nd, 2009. I then spent July 2nd through July 5th moving; oh how I hate moving.
I read a story on /. today about a guy who does retro remakes of modern games.
You can find his website here: http://cymonsgames.retroremakes.com/
I feel inspired, and if I am able to come across some extra time I hope to contribute to his library.
It is the first of April, 2009 and the pegans of the world are celebrating the start of a new year by dancing naked around bond fires and such. I, however, am not a pegan so I instead get to work, and my job for the most part is to fix things that aren't really broken.
One might think that this would be an easy task, but think about for just a second. If someone comes to you and says, "I need you to fix this," and walks away seconds before you determine that nothing is in fact broken what do you do?
Well, you could simply doing nothing since you were ask to "fix" something and it is in working order, but in my case that is a bad idea for me because I know from experience that when someone asks me to fix something, they are really asking me to find a way to accomplish a task without them having to do anything.
Well, after weeks of designing logos for Anaconda Steel I finally decided on the simple one. However, it was time well spent because I never would have gotten to the simple model if I had not stuggled through all the more complicated, and ultimately less attractive, versions of the logo.
You can see the logo I decided on at http://anacondasteel.lgshort.com/. This is just a temporary location, it will end up on its own domain.
UPDATE:Anaconda Steel page has been taken down due to payment issues.
It never fails that every time a holiday rolls around, someone that you know is under a lot of stress. It's either Christmas and you have to drive 400 miles to visit in laws, or Thanksgiving at home with 25 friends and your vacuum is broken.
It stands to reason that Valentine's Day would also fall under the umbrella of stressful holidays due to the expectations put on it by the media and, well, everyone else.
I always try and avoid the stress of the holiday by setting ground rules like no traveling or no visitors. This Valentine's Day, however, I got side swiped by my own brother...
