The headline says it all, but here is a little bit of what Wolfire had to say:
The Humble Indie Bundle experiment has been a massive success beyond our craziest expectations. So far, in just over 7 days, 123,191 generous contributors have put down an incredible $1,126,663. Of this, contributors chose to allocate 30.94% to charity: $348,549 for the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Child's Play Charity. I have made a page for the full breakdown including credit card fees in a JSON format
Congratulations guys, I think you've made indie gaming history.
Last week I wrote about Wolfire's Humble Indie Bundle which allows you to pay what ever price you want for a package of 5 popular Indie games. Well, the bundle now includes 6 games and those who have already purchased the bundle are being given the additional title as well.
Wolfire has also added some additional stats to their real-time statistics block, the average contribution broken down by OS, and it looks like Linux users have been the most generous.
With an average donation of $14, Linux users have demonstrated (in my opinion) that the users of free software are not the outlaws at the core of piracy that the open-source community is made out to be by various industries.
Ok, so I saw this article featured on boingboing.com and thought it has amusing, but wasn't going to promote it because it was sort of boring to read. However, it ended up being about a story about Charleson WV (kinda where I live) so I decided to push it.
Now, for the love of god please understand that this article is on theonion.com. If you are not familiar with The Onion, then you might be better off skipping this one. The Onion is a fictional news publisher, not real ok?
And they like profanity... alot.
wolfire.com is running an indie game bundle, called Humble Indie Bundle, that consists of 5 different, and rather good, indie games. All 5 games are offered for Linux, Mac, and Windows and are DRM-free. This is all well and good but the kicker in my opinion is that the bundle is offered as a "pay what you want" that you, the consumer, are encouraged to divide between the developers and several charities.
I have always been a fan of "pay want you want" as a consumer but not so much as an entrepreneur, however I think that wolfire may have hit the nail on the head here.
They are offering major value (multiple games including the acclaimed World of Goo and the feel good of being charitable) and providing you with the information needed to choose an informed price, including current earnings and average donation.

Hurray, oh hurray. I have seen nearly every incarnation of live-action Street Fighter and have been more disappointed every time. Could this be the one that gets it right? I think it could be.
From the article:
As an actor, film maker and a fan, I have been repeatedly disappointed by the many diluted, un faithful and outright butchered movie adaptations of fighting video games. It was clear to me, that given the way the movie industry worked, we would never see a super faithful, darker toned and more adult themed (or just plain good!) incarnation of Street fighter unless a die-hard fan director or film-making team with the game canon knowledge, film making know how and connections stepped up to the plate to helm such a project.
So almost a year ago, I began writing treatments and a production design brief and partnered with Streetlight films before proposing my concept and vision to Capcom. I'm pleased to say they gave their blessing and permission for the project to move forward.
Over on Gizmodo.com, which has recently been at the center of the lost iPhone4 investigation, I found an article highlighting just some of the reasons you might want to consider dumping Facebook.
From the article:
Founder and CEO of Facebook, in defense of Facebook's privacy changes last January: "People have really gotten comfortable not only sharing more information and different kinds, but more openly and with more people. That social norm is just something that has evolved over time." More recently, in introducing the Open Graph API: "... the default is now social." Essentially, this means Facebook not only wants to know everything about you, and own that data, but to make it available to everybody. Which would not, by itself, necessarily be unethical, except that ...
Holy freakin' crap! This is the coolest thing that I have seen in some time and a saw a building floating down I-24 yesterday.

UPDATE: For one of the coolest views, look straight up ;)
I read an interesting article today over at slate.com. The article is one mothers trails and tribulations with her 9 year old autistic son and the "medicines" that help him live anxiety and pain free.
From the article:
![]()
Last summer, we reached the six-month mark in our cannabis experiment. We'd been using medical marijuana to help quell our autistic son's gut pain and anxiety, and we were seeing some huge changes in his behavior and, presumably, his happiness. J was smiling, interacting (one of home-based therapists said she'd never encountered such an affectionate autistic child), even putting his dirty dishes in the dishwasher—rinsing and everything!—not only without being told, but without ever having been asked to do such a thing. The more I'd been reading, along with J's doctor, about the effects of cannabis—analgesic, anti-anxiety, safe—the more it seemed a logical choice. I've also heard from other parents who've decided to try cannabis for their children. One of the kids has Smith-Magenis, a genetic disorder that includes autismlike behavioral symptoms including self-injury. Another is an autistic child who'd refused to eat and was near death. Post-marijuana, he is thriving. The Smith-Magenis boy, who'd been about to start court-ordered medication, is also doing well.
UPDATE: The demo has been taken down due to a rather horrific error. I will release this game someday, promise. ;)
Ok, so I have decided to release the Tragic Kingdom demo. The game is far from complete, but maybe someone out there is looking for a ten minute distraction.
